"When setting out on a journey, do not seek advice from those who have never left home" - Rumi
I am a doctor's daughter. I carry the imprint of hanging out at my dad's department at Stanford Hospital, a 9-year old in an oversized lab coat communing with the baboons (with electrodes in their head). Eventually I worked at Stanford myself, with some of my father's peers. These were "old school" doctors who learned medicine as an art as well as science, back then they could still take time and listen. I saw my father connect with patients deeply, and sometimes came along to visit them at home after they recovered. My trust of medicine as I entered into my own health challenges (and ultimately chronic illness) was built on an outmoded view. If nothing else my condition was not well understood or managed, and pharmaceuticals did not agree with me at all.
Dr. Jules Constant says the best way to find and establish health is to get a disease and figure out how to fix yourself (a modern iteration of the shaman's or healer's journey). My challenge was Hashimoto's Thyroiditis from mercury in amalgam; after decades it was clear western medicine had no help for me and wasn't solving my problems... and it was going to kill me if something didn't change. So I left doctors and went about healing myself. It was a long and winding road but today I take no thyroid, nor any other medication or regular supplementation. Doctors say isn't possible to heal the thyroid, one can only achieve remission. Ironically my greatest healing challenge was from the damage pharma did in service of helping me.
I did fundamental science coursework and attended two years of nursing school so I could realize it wasn't the career for me. I worked in hospital and medical settings (most involving children, a lot of angelic presence in a children's hospital) and attained a Masters in Public Health, teaching community health and specializing in women's health, childbirth, and infant and young children. When the program I was working for closed, I took an unexpected career turn that put me in the path of animals. I began doing energetic healing work on them, as well as education on holistic pet health which was just beginning. Animals are supreme teachers as they have no limiting beliefs and accept vibration as a norm for keeping themselves in balance. Young children function very much the same, so animal mastery enabled me to be of great help with pre-verbal children.
For many years I worked primarily with animals, but eventually expanded to their people. Bioenergetic healing and vibrational balancing allows me to fire on all cylinders - biochemistry and what science understands, as well as more esoteric gifts as a body whisperer, intuitive, and medical empath. I have spent many hours obtaining useful, reasoned knowledge through science, but as important are the healings that take place beyond that explanation. Science is a good construct, plenty imperfect, and a rigid box. I believe in a bigger picture science will never comprehend, just the edges are many lifetimes of work.
I am at mastery level in my energy work as I enter my third act as a healer. I'm always looking to learn and understand more, and to apply principles in simple, elegant ways to support healing and well-being. When an animal comes to me and puts a sick part in my hands it is the highest honor I could wish for, it is an act of pure intuition and trust.
