There are several ways to self-muscle test, I greatly prefer the pendulum. It is the gold standard as the movement is externalized and leaves less to the imagination, and it expresses energy in a more nuanced way than other methods. Once proficient you can use other ways to test (finger loops, sway etc) if you wish to. I know many muscle testers who say they are confident in their ability yet can't get a simple answer out of a pendulum - including practitioners! That is not a solid foundation, when testing for health you want solid, reliable feedback. Learning this skill well is invaluable, I credit it with turning my chronic illness around and helping me give my body what it needed to heal.
Why do I teach muscle testing? The fundamentals are simple but not always easy. Without knowing if your pendulum that will work for you (many problems are because a person has a pendulum that is never going to be a good fit) you can't get reliable results. And if you can't use a pendulum how would you know? That is where a teacher comes in.
It is common for people to need some clearing and work before they can get a consistent read as well. For example, if you have a problem saying "yes" or "no" in life, you may not be able to get a consistent answer until you clear that block energetically.
What is muscle testing?
Muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology, is a method of receiving answers from the body. An electrical network of energy runs through the nervous system feeding the entire body; because it runs through the muscles as well, if anything impacts the electrical system that doesn't maintain or improve the body, your muscle will not receive enough energy and your arm will be weakened.
Because it bypasses the mind (which can be quite a trap) and accesses the subconscious, it can give illuminating answers. That supplement you are convinced is going to change your life and you are in love with the thought of? Your body may say sorry, not for me... it isn't impressed with what your mind is attached to, which is a great benefit of muscle testing, The body has a consciousness that resides within the subconscious, and muscle testing is a way for your body to communicate specific likes and dislikes in a very tangible way.
Why muscle test?
Learning to muscle test the foods and supplements I was offering my body during a period of ill health was a big game changer. For people who have gut or brain imbalances, or whose system is generally not working well, offering only the things that your body wants and needs at the time is very supportive and allows the system to start healing.
Food and chemical reactions create an immense amount of fatigue and can really drag down a system. Many food reactions take place over 2-3 days and it can be hard to pinpoint what the problem is; with muscle testing that is solved and you can avoid allergy triggers. Supplements you don't need, or taking too much of a good one also creates more load on your body to excrete what it didn't want in the first place.
I believe learning proper muscle testing methods (to ensure reliable results) is beneficial for everyone. I test any supplement I'm thinking about taking, I often test food although not every morsel that goes in my mouth (if I'm feeling the least bit less than tip top I test more carefully). I even test my several toothpastes most days to find out which one my mouth most wants to use that day. We can give our bodies what they most want and need - when you can talk to your body and hear the answer, why not! It's so simple and supportive.
How do you muscle test yourself?
When something is tested - a food, supplement, or a question about the body, mind, or emotion - if the response is positive the muscle will get energy and expand, giving a strong or 'yes' response. Using pushing on an outstretched arm as an example, the method most practitioners use, when the tester pushes the arm will be strong and resist being pushed. If energy to the muscle diminishes, a negative response will weaken the muscle and the answer is no (the outstretched arm will easily move downward).
A pendulum reads this same energy in an external fashion. When you have a pendulum that is clean and a good match for you (which most people don't understand or accomplish), it will give a consistent "yes" or "no" but also can show "maybe" or a weak or iffy answer. It has the ability to be more nuanced and help direct your inquiries more effectively. A pendulum can say "I really don't like this question and don't want to answer" or "a BIG yes to that" unlike other methods of self-testing.
